Steven Paul Jobs was an American entrepreneur, industrial designer, business magnate, media proprietor, and investor, and was the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Apple. He was also the chairman and majority shareholder of Pixar.

He is considered a father of the digital revolution, and massive innovation, and is also considered a design perfectionist. He is considered as a single executive or creator in the technology industry more important than him. He brought innovations to the world of technology and media. His creativity and innovations are adored and admired by people across the world. He started a company in a garage, and for over 30 years computers, music, movies, and mobile phones have all been transformed by him.

Early Life

It was 24th February 1955 when Steve Jobs was born in San Francisco, California, and was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs. Alto, California was becoming the hub of Electronics, and the people were trying to refer to the area of Silicon Valley. He was standing at a distance from the academics. He was not interested in schooling and was interested in pranking phone computers and creating innovative business ideas. He was transferred to Crittenden Middle School in Mountain View. He asked his parents to remove him from school, and his parents agreed to do so. He later on, went to Cupertino Junior High to achieve the further academics.

Paul built a workbench in his garage for his son to work on mechanics. He used to spend a lot of time in working in the garage workshop.

In 1972, his friend Steve Wozniak designed a low-cost digital Blue box to generate the necessary tones to manipulate the telephone network, which allowed free long-distance calls, and Mr. Jobs decided to make money by selling it.

In 1973, he designed his own version of classic video game Pong, and after the completion of this work, Mr. Wozniak gave his board to him and took the game to Atari in Los Gatos. Atari offered a job to Mr. Jobs as a technician after seeing that.

In 1976, he and his partner Steve Wozniak started the Apple computer. They started in his family garage, and are credited with revolutionizing the computer industry by democratizing the technology and making the machine smaller, cheaper, intuitive, and accessible to everyday consumers.

Mr. Wozniak thought about a series of user-friendly computers and with him in charge of marketing. Mr. Wozniak and Mr. Jobs gradually created bigger and better computers, and also created the Apple II, which marked the biggest success of the company. It marked the most sales of computers.

Mr. Jobs thought to extend Apple more and hired the former Chief Executive of Pepsi John Sculley with the intention to take Apple towards progress. As their thoughts and ideas were going in different directions, Steve Jobs was fired from the company he founded.

New Start

After 1 year, he purchased his struggling animation studio from Star Wars Mastermind, George Lucas. He created another company NeXT, which specialized in high-end workstations for the business community. It was a commercial failure and NeXT bled money until it was purchased by Apple a decade later bringing Steve Jobs back to the company that he built.

Over the next few years, he went to the position of CEO of Apple company. In 2001 he started the reinvention work of Apple. He produced the most successful device in the company, such as the iPad and iMac. With his efforts, Apple became the biggest company in the technology sector. Apple introduced iTunes, a computer program for playing music and for converting music to the compact MP3 digital format. iPod brought by the company became the market leader gradually.

It also used to sell downloadable copies of major record company songs in MP3 format over the Internet, and remained the top tech company in the world. It sold more than one billion songs and videos through its online iTunes Store. Mr. Jobs officially changed the name of the company to Apple Inc. on January 9, 2007.

He headed the most important project in the history of the company. He gathered Apple engineers to a technology demonstration at the Xerox Corporation Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) as he wanted to see how the graphical user interface could make computers easier to use and more efficient. He is a true inspiration for other entrepreneurs.

Last Stage

He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was suffering from some health issues. He underwent some surgeries and after following a short recovery he came back to give his support to the company. He took another medical leave of absence, in January 2011, and resigned as CEO but became chairman in August. He was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in 2022.
